Pixomondo to Oversee Operation of Sony Pictures LED Virtual Production Stage (EXCLUSIVE)

Sony Pictures Entertainment’s first LED virtual production stage built by Sony Innovation Studios will be operated and managed by Pixomondo.
Pixomondo, Sony’s award-winning visual effects and virtual production studio, will oversee operation of the LED virtual production stage later this month.
Established in 2022, the stage is one of the largest to use Sony’s high-brightness and wide color gamut Crystal LED display panels. It was most recently used as the backdrop for INIKO’s music video “Jericho,” as a collaboration among INIKO, Sony Immersive Music Studios and SIS. The music video was shot on the virtual production stage and captured with Sony’s VENICE digital cinema cameras coupled with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.

Stage 7 will be Pixomondo’s third permanent LED stage, geared toward filmmakers looking for innovative production solutions in commercial, TV and film and especially focused on complex vehicle process work using in-camera visual effects. Bringing a global infrastructure to Stage 7, Pixomondo has over 30 virtual production project credits, contributing to films and series such as “Hugo,” “Game of Thrones” and “The Boys.”
“It is an exciting and transformative time for PXO, as we evolve our L.A. business to be housed on the Sony Pictures lot, bringing us right into the heart of the filmmaking process,” Pixomondo CEO Jonny Slow, who will lead the LED volume, said in a statement. “PXO L.A. has a new home, fantastic new teammates and creative services, all supported by one of the strongest technology companies in the world. The adaptability of the volume on Stage 7 will bring a new dimension to virtual production in L.A.’s creative ecosystem.”
